CLOSING TIME IS EXTRA SPECIAL THIS YEAR: CELEBRATING FIVE SEASONS AT MOSER’S

Wow, it’s hard to believe. As we close the barn for the season, we’re reminded that we’re also wrapping up our fifth season in business. Statistics show that most small businesses fail within the first five years … yet, somehow, we are still here -- and we owe it all to our awesome customers, farm partners, vendors, staff, family and friends.

When we opened the market in 2018, we had a hunch that others might like fresh apples as much as we do and maybe think our restored barn was kind of cool. During that first season, we started with a few tables of apples and had a small wagon of pumpkins and mums for sale. We were open only a few weeks – just on the weekends – and we nearly sold out. We thought, “hey, maybe we’re onto something.”

So we tried it again the next year – opening the barn earlier in the Fall and getting more varieties of apples from Christina’s family orchard and from our friends at Bauman Orchards. Every year since then, we’ve been able to offer more and more because of your support. We’re just thrilled you keep coming!

Our goal has always been to get our hands on the best produce and farm-fresh products in and around central Ohio to share with Delaware County. Now, as we’re looking back on our five seasons, it’s fun to see how our little market has become a summer and fall destination for so many local families. You’ve made it possible for us to:

·       Connect with more farm neighbors right here on Clark-Shaw Road to provide the most local sweet corn, pumpkins and fresh seasonal flowers.

·       Partner with other Powell-area farmers for local honey and the best fruits and vegetables at the height of their ripeness.

·       Find Ohio and other nearby sources for the seasonal fruits that you keep requesting like our peaches, berries and melons.

·       Expand our pantry, home and personal care items because of new relationships with vendors making unique, high-quality products.

·       And just this season, add a small staff to give you what we believe is the best customer service yet!

Closing time is always a time for us to look back and appreciate how the business grows and changes. This Sunday, when our barn season comes to an end, we know our hearts will be filled with extra gratitude. From just a few bags of apples, an old barn and a hope for something special, we’re now surrounded with the best possible community of support and partners ever. We want to say THANK YOU for allowing us to get to know all of you and for making our first five years in business something we never dreamed they could be.

·       Through Sunday, October 30: The barn will be open regular Fall hours. It’s a great time to stock up until we open again next summer.

·       Early November: Watch your email to place special orders for Honeycrisp and Evercrisp apples, Der Dutchman baked goods and new gift baskets of our specialty items to make your gift-giving season easier.

We hope you enjoy looking at the photos from our early start as much as we do – and we look forward to bringing you a market that’s even bigger and better next year!

With all our gratitude,

Brad and Christina

Our little market started on September 15, 2018, with a wagonload of pumpkins and apples from family and friends.

Our two oldest boys had fun on opening day!

Our market was a little sparse that first season.

We didn’t even have a front table the first season we were open.

A couple of years later, the market filled up with more and more local fruits and vegetables thanks to all our wonderful customers and suppliers.

We also kept adding display areas for the growing number of products we offered.

This sign hangs in the market yet today! THANK YOU for making our first five years so great!
