Our New Meat Partner is a True “Winner”
In 1928, Robert Winner started a business slaughtering hogs and cattle in his barn in Osgood, Ohio,
and processing the meat for local people. Little did he know then what his family’s efforts would look
like nearly 100 years later: a company with more than 80 employees at three locations farming over
600 acres, operating two slaughterhouses, a grocery store, two livestock markets and a trucking
company that hauls livestock to 15 surrounding states.
Today, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren of the late Robert keep the family tradition
going, primarily selling their products in nearly 50 locations in western Ohio – and shipping throughout
the U.S.
“We are a true farm-to-table producer,” says Brian Winner, president of the company. “We know
exactly what goes into our meats – by owning our own farms, we can purchase the cattle from the
grasslands of Virginia and finish them on the crops grown on our own land. The crops which we use
to feed our livestock are planted, harvested and grinded by us.” By doing so, Winners can guarantee
what’s going out their doors – including meats from animals that are humanly raised with no extra
chemicals, antibiotics or steroids. Farm-fresh!
Nowadays, Winner’s harvests three times a week, so customers are always getting fresh meat. “We
stress quality,” says Brian. “We don’t use fillers. It’s just the meat and seasonings. We don’t want our
family name on anything inferior.”
In fact, Winner’s has demonstrated this quality commitment by achieving a USDA grant of inspection
from the federal government. “We abide by the strictest inspections and regulations – that means
good, safe products for our customers,” says Brian. Winner’s have also won countless awards of
excellence for many of their homemade products at both the state and national levels.
“We’re very happy to now work with Moser’s. Their setting is great,” says Brian. “We already ship to
some customers in the Columbus area so now they can come to Moser’s and get our meats directly.”
According to Brad, Moser’s will stock a wide variety of Winner’s Meat including some big favorites –
marinated pork chops, hamburgers, bulk beef hamburger and bulk pork sausage, summer sausage,
pork hot dogs and chicken. “We’ll even stock some of their products for dogs like smoked pig ears,
smoked bones and bully sticks. We think about all the members of the family here at Moser’s!”
